happy despite all odds + zutter time!

Feeling a bit sick right now. I guess having 3 small jobs (a regular part time job + teaching job + my little online store ...  all of which are related to scrapbooking) not counting mommyhood and wifeyhood, no matter how much you love these roles will really give you colds at times. I'm not complaining. I love what I do now. I just hope I will improve on my time management skills. And would facebook a lot less. God help me.

Anyway, here's a project I made recently using my favorite tool, bind-it-all. This is made for my son's teacher for her wedding day....

I had been holding on to these spare zutter rings for a while thinking I'd use them one day and that day has come LOL.... See, I have 2 pieces of rings good for 4 holes, and 1 piece of ring for 5. What to do? Punch holes following these numbers! Easy arithmetic! Now I do not need to run to my local scrapbooking store  to get new rings, and I have used my spare rings. What a great feeling =)

Next, I covered my chipboard pages with cream cardstocks, sanded the edges and did the bind-it-all magic!

Here are some close-ups a collage of what's inside...

... used Crate Paper's Portrait collection, my punches, and have added some crackle paint for texture.

...love that silhouette and the glossy accented letter stickers.

... Teacher Lala gave me very limited photos but I like how my pages turned out. Simple and a lot of space for guests to write down their wishes for the couple.

Supplies:
tools: Zutter Bind-It-All
papers: Crate Paper, American Crafts
chipboard accents: Crate Paper
trims & laces: Crate Paper
glimmer mist: Tattered Angels
glossy accents: Ranger
others: chipboard, twine, brads, pearls, bakers twine, doily

That's about it! Thanks for looking :)

Simple Stories - Awesome

A double page for my double happiness.

I have to admit, it's my first time to use Simple Stories because although I like their lines, I thought that the colors were not just me. I am usually more into very bright cutesy stuff. Until Aida assigned me to host a challenge for MWL and gave me these to work on.... then it's love at first try!

I bet the person who designed this collection is a mom. Of boys! She knows exactly what words, sentiments and images to use! Making a layout for my sons was a no brainer... I enjoyed it so much  that I made not just one layout but two...

These would look perfect in their own rooms... someday =)

... how about some close up of how I did the hidden journaling:

Thanks for looking! =)

Supplies:
papers: Simple Stories Awesome, AC cardstock

treasure bag

It's school holiday the whole week! Such a perfect time for this workshop I designed for  kids.  In this class, kids will have fun altering a pretty paper bag that will hold a mini accordion album containing anything and everything they treasure in life!

A little birdie told me that the class is full as of now. Thank you to all who signed up! But who knows, we might offer it again in the coming months. Will keep you posted :)

Contact Made With Love for more information on all the workshops we offer. Thanks! :)

Thoughtful Crafts Monday!

courageous and humbled

... that's what I hope to have become after our community's weekend retreat. Nothing compares to the joy and conviction I feel in my heart after God talked to me strongly and concretely about the two things... the two questions I have been carrying in my heart for so long. One is the question about being open to life. Hubby and I very much wanted to have another baby but there was fear for so many reasons. Another burden is about this particular person I consider my cross  --- I simply dislike her for reasons I cannot share out loud to protect her. All these time I thought it is her fault for being like this and like that. In this world's point of view, she is really crazy and irritating. The kind of irritation that will make you cry. She is my cross and I bet she knows because I feel that she does things to prove something to the world. But then this weekend I realized that God loves her as much as He loves me. And my judging and hating her is a form of slavery to sin. This sin brings me farther and farther away from Him. So today, I am happy to say that I will let that person be. In fact, I am praying that she will be truly and genuinely happy in whatever endeavor she wants to take. That she will be victorious and see how much she is loved by God. I pray too for myself. That I will stop looking at her and fix my eyes on Christ instead. He was crucified for the sins He didn't do. And just like Christ, I too will be resurrected :)

So now, what?

Nothing. I need not do anything. God does not need me to be number 1. I don't need to be a winner. To be cool to be a super woman. To be this and that. God loves me just the way I am. No labels. No titles.

I repeat. God loves me. Even when I suck. And he badly wants me to experience that kind of LOVE. So that all those fears will go away. Because He loves me and will take care of me. Because His will for me is the best and He knows what he is doing. I must not doubt. I must trust. I must relax.

That's why today, I lay down my concrete steps:

1) Hubby and I are open to life. In His grace.
2) I will always always pray for my cross. Kiss my cross. Adore my cross. It's very difficult I know but I can do it with God's help.

Oh how I praise and thank God for this FREEDOM.

... our community "class picture" I love to look at everyone's faces =)

... serious at scrutacio.

... our dear cantors. Someday Miguel will be one of them. Amen.

That's all! Until next time =)

a walk to remember

So proud of my kiddos to be able to walk from Henderson Waves to Vivo City! Twas such a fun experience for them, for us and for all the families who joined.  Kuya and Migs loved it and we will surely do it again in the near future. Kudos to The PCF teachers and the organizers for such a very successful weekend walk :)

road trip + happy screen shot

One of the things our family love doing is travelling. Car rides. Train rides. Plane ride. Our boys love it when we do all these. That's why we make it a point to go home to the Philippines at least once a year.  Thanks to the budget-friendly air fares! God willing, I'd be able to tick one item in my bucket list before I turn 50. To travel around our beautiful country of 7,107 islands --- The Philippines!

This week at Made With Love, I'm assigned to create a project with "travel" as a theme.  The mini album I'm currently making which is about our latest travels would have been perfect but since it's only halfway done, I made this layout using Crate Paper's Neighborhood and Portrait collections, this palette, and this Sizzix stamp which is perfect for travel and road trip themed layouts and projects:

... I bet I'll be using this stamp often :)  by the way, so so soooo happy about this screen shot below *can't stop grinning 'til now :D:D:D Thank you American Crafts!

grateful

Dear Lizzy's latest Neapolitan line spells F-U-N! Creating a page and some cards with it is so easy and stress free... It's water color themed designs are so refreshing! And have you seen the stamps? Love!

See more cards and crafts HERE.

The layout tells of how grateful I am to God for this life I have. Far from perfect. Lots of struggles and difficulties but with no doubt a very meaningful and happy life.... A loving and supportive husband, 2 adorable kids, one quirky and silent the other one so bubbly and talks and does his things nonstop. I also want to make mention my cousin, my helper who's been with us since my oldest son was 4 months old. So thankful for a great and trustworthy help wo loves my kids. Makes me feel at peace when I'm away for work =)

Work! It's also something I am grateful for. A regular 4 hour/day work is just perfect for me. Doing the things I love while still having an ample time to be with my kids in the morning. I always look forward to my busy mornings preparing them for school, doing my crafts, exercise and I get to dress up everyday. Train rides allow me to think deeper, pray more and tinker with my phone guilt-free haha!

I believe if I had to tell you all, I may never want to stop. I just feel SO BLESSED and my prayer today is that God will always give me the grace to REMEMBER this feeling, this TRUTH. That I am blessed, that He LOVES me.  Eventhough many times I hurt him with how I easily judge others, how terribly selfish I am in my decisions, priorities and actions... how I miserably fail to be consistent in my prayertime... still He loves me. Where can you find a God as loving as that?

May we all have a spirit-filled Lenten Season!
