3 layouts and a selfie

Today, for my project life and filofax buddies, it is the first day of Day One. And this day was all good. So good that I want to celebrate it with a selfie :D

  • received surprises big and small, unexpected things that mean so much
  • settled Kuya's school bus and his catechism classes
  • did 6 km cross trainer
  • ate brown rice
  • spoke to friends and to God
  • did my best at work
Speaking of work, finished a total of 14 layouts in just a couple of 2 working days! I designed these for my upcoming workshop titled: "14 at 2014!" at Made With Love. I really love the latest Daily Grind collection from Simple Stories, and also the stamps and neon inks from i {heart} papers. Here are 3 samples... there are 11 more layouts which you will see (and make) when you sign up. Don't forget to check out two other new classes to be taught by my favorite fellow designers! :)

Choose joy!

This card is a reminder for you. And for me too.  Whatever happens, however challenging our day or night can be, we can choose joy.

Today I did.

Woke up earlier. Did my work out. Did a little charity. Ate breakfast with my boys. Worked with a smile despite never ending deadlines. And made this simple card using Hey Kid papers and  Fresh Squeezed stamps from i{heart}papers

Robin's Nest + i {heart} papers

I want to thank you for checking out my previous post and for leaving kind comments.  So please pardon me if for now, I couldn't visit your blogs to leave some love.. I am still very busy in carrying out a craft-related fund raising sale for the victims of typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda in the Philippines.  It's fun and fulfilling but replying to countless mails and messages on my phone and mails and facebook can be so overwhelming. When I feel very tired and stressed, I just remind myself how insignificant it is as compared to what the victims may be going through right now.

These are some of the Christmas cards that will be included in the fundraiser comes 24 November at my place... I am also creating this for The Robin's Nest and i {heart} papers.

The pretty red and white Christmas collection from Robin's Nest and embellishments and supplies from i {heart} papers suits so well with my clean and simple style. Doing these is as easy as 1-2-3.

1. Cut white cardstock paper to 6x8 inches and fold in half.
2. Cut 6" patterned papers and adhere to page. Add embellishments.
3. Stamp sentiments and mat with red paper. Add to the card.

Check out Robin's Nest and i {heart} papers now!

Smoothfoam + Robin's Nest Blog Hop

Hi there... sharing with you some Christmas ornaments  I made yesterday , alternately with packing destash bags for fund raising for my beloved country, Philippines. I am sure by this time you already have heard about the tragedy. The strongest typhoon ever recorded hit our land. Thousands died. I can't go on. Thinking about it makes me want to wail and be hopeless.. but I wont. That's the last thing a Filipino like me must do. If you want to help me in my humble relief campaign, I am accepting scrapbooking stash donations.. I will then repack it and sell. Money will be sent to a trusted agency or volunteer groups. All details of this campaign are posted in my facebook page. If you are interested to help me, please send me a private message HERE.

I made these ornaments by covering these  foam shapes from Smoothfoam, with my patterned paper stash. I first traced with a pencil, cut... and paste.

Then covered the whole thing with white glue and added glitter.

Here are the rest of the ornaments...  I embellished it with dew drops, buttons, ribbons.

This is a blog hop by the way. There are exciting prizes to be won so make sure you visit The Robin's Nest for the complete list of the blogs participating. Peace and Love everyone. Thank you for dropping by.  XO, Gen

Hello again!

... that's the collection from Carta Bella I am loving and playing with at the moment. Makes me imagine the things I love.

A relaxed day at home. With not so many fancy stuff but clean and happy with a bit of mess here and there and occasional noise courtesy of K & B.

Or tea time with a dear friend.
Or late night movie marathon with Benjo.

Or just me .... with my craft supplies, my notebook and my favorite pen.

Journaling: "The older I get, the more I realize that it's the little things that count. Praying to God that He will help me to focus less on this "world" but on things that really matter.

Here's a layoutI made...  and a cover of a mini album which for some reason, refuses to be finished. It's been 2 years since I started this album LOL! Some things always get in the way I guess. Whatever. At least I already made the cover hahaha.

Go and and check out the rest of the Made With Love ladies and let their awesome works inspire you enough to be able to do nothing but craft this weekend!

HELLO!

Glad to be back =) Though frankly, I am not quite ready yet for November & December. I am way behind my project life and other crafts. Got so much to do. Got so little time. Blah.. blah...

But let me tell you, life right here is not all that bad and pathetic :) I have quite a number of things to be thankful for! One of which is to have this awesome privilege to join i {heart} paper as guest designer for November and December.

For two months,  will be sharing with  you projects using yummy products from their store. So watch out for it... for starters, here are some pages from the mini-album I made using Studio Calico's Heyday Thoughts stamps.

These photos were taken during our vacation in the Philippines. I am glad to finally be able to scrap it  =)

"Trick or Treat" for Robin's Nest

Halloween is almost here! Have you prepared your "trick or treat" costumes yet? I have not, Lol! I find it hard to top what we had last year... Pirates! And while thinking of what to be this year (or whether we will actually be joining? haha) I made this 11X8.5 layout for Robin's Nest...

Click HERE to see the full details of what I created for Robin's Nest this month.

Chocolate Crinkles

I almost forgot about this photos of my cookie monsters. Saw it when I was looking for photos to scrap for one of my current assignments :)  Thanks hubby dear for capturing their precious expressions eating with such heavenly satisfaction!

This cookie is one of the first I learned to bake as inspired by my friend and Kumare Jing :) Her recipe is in my recipe book. Handwritten. And because I'm lazy to type everything word for word, I just copied a recipe from somewhere out there.. It's similar anyway :)

Chocolate Crinkles Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2cup vegetable oil
4oz unsweetened baking chocolate, melted, cooled
2cups granulated sugar
2teaspoons vanilla
4eggs
2cups all-purpose flour
2teaspoons baking powder
1/2teaspoon salt
1/2cup powdered sugar
Precedure:
  1. In large bowl, mix oil, chocolate, granulated sugar and vanilla. Stir in eggs, one at a time. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover; refrigerate at least 3 hours.
  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease cookie sheet with shortening or cooking spray.
  1. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls into powdered sugar; roll around to coat and shape into balls. Place about 2 inches apart on cookie sheets.
  1. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until almost no imprint remains when touched lightly in center. Immediately remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Makes 6 dozen cookies. |SOURCE

Hope you get to try it! :)

Made With Love

So happy and proud to be part of this awesome Design Team for Made With Love

Today I'm sharing with you the first projects I made using the yummiest products you can find at the shop... I chose to make a Christmas layout with a matching card.

I first applied a texture paste using polka dot stencil before layering everything on the page. It gives such an interesting texture. As interesting as this baby in the photo :)

I used sequins to mimic the dots in my layout! :) I hope you like my matching layout and card :)  Do check out the blogs of my fellow design team if you have the time.. They are all talented people I tell you!

Please say HI if you happen to see us in the store. We will be glad to meet you! XOXO :)

Supplies list:
paper: Webster Pages
embellishments: Websters Pages, Simple Stories, Studio Calico, mambi
die: Sizzix
stamp: Cocoa Daisy
others: texture paste, ribbon

photo dilemma

Sorry for being absent too long ... I spend most of my time in Instagram lately. It is much easier and faster and my photos look nicer there.  When I blog, I still get frustrated with my photos.  I badly need to LEARN the technicalities of photography. Yes this October. I'll do that.

For now, pardon me for these are  the best photos of the sample layouts I made recently for my "Just Getting Started" class at Made With Love. I don't like the photos. The layouts look so much better in "person"....honest :(

In class you learn the basics of scrapbooking and you get to choose a whole pack of Echo Park Paper kit. There are variety of kits to choose from. You will go home with a layout or two + a new found love for scrapbooking! Call 67337630 or 66435561 for more details.

Going back to taking good photos of the layouts of projects we make, do you have any personal pointers for me?

Boo! Trick of treat!

Head on Robin's Nest for the complete post. I made two layouts using the Halloween collections and used washi tapes for my journaling for the two layouts.

Project Life - Weeks 23, 24 & 25

  • so far I've only done 9 spreads total since I started and I'm still getting the hang of it
  • 11 weeks behind and struggling so badly but have zero plans of quitting. I'm hooked for life (I think haha!)
  • catching up means simple pages. no stitching. no medium. just paste. paste. paste.
  • love my 3 weeks worth of PL... keep looking at it. again and again. thankful for the memories I get to keep. My faves among these are the photo of my boys napping during school holidays, their faces when they ate a hot pancake, and our couple run one night :) I may just forget these precious moments had I not documented it. Thank God for PL!

Do you "project life"? Share with me your spreads please :)
